Ukraine to update its social insurance system

On November 21, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada approved in the first reading the draft law No. 12209. The bill, submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers, proposes amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine to establish comprehensive and fair social support (benefits and services) for individuals with limited work capacity, including persons with disabilities.

The Supreme Court expressed its position on the reimbursement of legal assistance expenses.

The State Regulatory Service (SRS) has approved the Plan for Comprehensive Oversight (Control) Measures by state oversight bodies for 2025.

Updated procedure for employee deferral starting December 1, 2024

From December 1, 2024, businesses will be able to defer employees through the "Diia" portal under a newly updated procedure. To defer employees, a company must either obtain or update its critical importance status according to the new mandatory criteria. Businesses have until the end of February 2025—over three months—to complete this update.
