On June 27, the Law No. 3668-IX "On International Territorial Cooperation of Ukraine" came into force.

Key innovations of the adopted Law:

• Definition of types of international territorial cooperation with the corresponding reflection of basic terms:
• Interterritorial cooperation;
• Cross-border cooperation;
• Transnational cooperation;
• Updating approaches to providing state support to subjects and participants of international territorial cooperation;
• Improving procedures for agreeing on projects of international territorial cooperation agreements and the powers of the central executive body responsible for this state policy area;
• Strengthening the role of the Interdepartmental Coordination Commission on Regional Development Issues;
• Expanding the powers of local self-government bodies in the field of interterritorial cooperation;
• Assigning several issues of implementing state regional policy and developing international territorial cooperation to the jurisdiction of local state administrations, with the possibility of concluding cooperation agreements with foreign partners;
• Ensuring the possibility of participation in international territorial cooperation for territorial communities where military administrations of settlements are established;
• Defining a clear algorithm of actions for local self-government participation in international territorial cooperation.
