Ukraine received the status of a candidate for EU membership!

On June 24, 2022 the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced on his Twitter that the leaders of the European Union at the summit in Brussels supported the granting of the EU candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova.

The message of the chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel, states the following: "Agreed! The Eurocouncil has just passed the decision on granting the EU candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova. A historic moment! Today is an important step on your way to the EU. I congratulate the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the President of Moldova Maia Sandu, as well as the people of Ukraine and Moldova. Our future is together!"

The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, in her turn, informed that the candidate status officially starts the process of Ukraine's acquisition of the EU membership and noted that Ukraine is actively working on further steps and reforming the country despite the war, in order not to lose the pace of our integration.
